Reaction to Peer Review

The peer review session was very beneficial to me especially since getting a second or third opinion on a paper helps make the paper better. If I was the only on to look at my paper then I would not be able to correctly judge it. Everyone writes in a different fashion which means getting others to read your paper allows it to be seen in a different light. I also liked the aspect in which we were told to be as brutally honest as we could be when reviewing the person's paper. Many times during peer review, students are guilty of being "too nice" when examining an essay so that they do not hurt the person's feelings. This was not the case at all for this peer review session since we were specifically instructed to "not be nice" when editing a paper, which helped improve the paper even more. In addition, reading other people's papers helped me see where improvement is needed in my own paper since others could do one thing in writing better than me. It can almost be seen as motivation when I see one aspect I really liked in another person's paper that I need enhancement in.  This can be applied the other way around too; I can notice one thing I did well in that another person's paper did not do so well which helps encourage me to write an excellent essay. After this peer review session, I learned what I need to change in my own paper in order to make it as good as possible.
