Research Process

So far, the research process has been more difficult than I anticipated; so many resources are available through the Internet and the plethora of books in the Rutgers libraries, yet finding well-cited articles that perfectly related to my topic remained a challenge. Furthermore, narrowing down my topic has been difficult because there are actually many possible ways to do so. At the same time, eventually finding the right sources and specifying my research was very satisfying. Another difficulty I found in the research process is the sheer amount of information to take in. Especially in the books I chose, I will have to narrow down what to read and determine what is important to my argument in the limited amount of time available to me. As for what is still left to do, I still have to determine my argument or thesis and find additional information to support that thesis. I’m concerned that after I have written my paper I may find faults in my argument and go through the research process once more to address those issues. Therefore, I think that forming a strong thesis at the beginning will be beneficial to the writing process long-term, which can only be done through thorough research. I also need to consider the organization of my paper, how similar points should be included under the same paragraphs.
