So far, I am enjoying the process of this research
proposal. The other papers we have done are about topics that, while are
interesting and thought provoking, are not exactly what I am interested in. The
topic I chose has been something I have noticed a lot in the past few years,
and even more recently in college, so this paper gave me the perfect
opportunity to actually research about it and discuss why this selfish social
media identity crisis occurs. I am surprised at how much information exists in
these databases as well. I originally thought my topic would be too abstract and
therefore would not garner enough credible publications. However, it is quite
the opposite. I came across numerous sources that deal with social media and
identity thoroughly, and that have become great sources for my paper. I am
still unsure about my conclusion and what exactly the takeaway for the paper
would be, since, as I am reading more papers, even my thoughts about the topic
are starting to grow and develop. I plan on consulting more research, and
reading more in depth in the journals and articles I have already found. While
I will definitely take into account the conclusions those papers made, I will
still defend my original case, but also introduce the opposing sides and arguments,
mentioning the scholarly discussion that is occurring around this topic.
Besides that, I have a good understanding of the prompt and how I will be
arguing my position.
