My research
process so far has been quite challenging, but inspiring as well. I am quite
happy with my topic. While I have found the requirement to use sources from the
New Humanities Reader very
restricting, I am glad that I can write and research at least partially on a
topic I am very interested in. This will be the first time I have the chance to
study the Russian Revolution and its leaders closely, something I have always
desired to do. I have also studied World War II closely many times before, but
I have never had the chance to study the planning of war strategy and domestic
policy during the war closely. I was very surprised by the number of sources I
can choose from, and it even overwhelmed me at times. I had trouble finding the
exact sources that I needed. However, I have been able to figure out how to
navigate the vast collection of sources to find what a need, something that I
have found quite satisfying about the research process. Nevertheless, I am
still unsure as how many sources will be sufficient for my research project.
With all the sources available, it is tempting for me to use as many sources as
I can, even though I know I do not have the space in my paper nor the time to
do so. I still need to narrow my argument and area of research somewhat; as I
mentioned earlier, with all the sources available, it has been tempting to do
as much as I can, despite the fact that I know I cannot. Once I am able to
specifically choose all the sources I need, I should be well on my way to
writing the paper.
