I chose to analyze a scientific journal titled "How do you feel — now? The anterior insula and human awareness" by A. D. Craig. The article is cited by Fredrickson in Love 2.0 to explain the authentic definition of insula. It focuses on the analysis of main function of anterior insula cortex and new finding in its fundamental role in awareness. According to the journal, most of the conscious correlations are created and resulted from the activity in AIC. Not only the major emotion and desire emerge from the particular region of the brain, but also the cognition skill ad consciousness are closely related to the AIC. This journal is published as a scholarly paper dedicated to explaining the new finding and research result of the field. Thus, it adopts a formal, sophisticated and professional tone. The author seems to expect the audiences to be familiar with the technical terms. He uses them freely to frame the scientific finding of his research and build a confident, authentic and trustworthy character. His intended audiences are limited to his colleagues and researchers in the same field, since the professional vocabularies are not accessible to general public. It is also clear that the author tries to create a direct and organized structure to make the report inviting and professional. An formal introduction is followed by multiple sections with bold letters indicating the major theme of the following paragraph. Also, visual aid is included to better convey the physiological aspect of AIC and to create a more direct and vivid representation.
